Hey, all. I'm having a problem with my Linksys Cable/DSL router. When
I'm downloading large files, as in the binaries groups, I'll only get
a few files before I get an "operation timed out" error in Agent. When
I had my cable modem hooked straight into my PC via USB, it'd go for
days without a hitch. Now, throuh the Linksys router into my NIC, I've
got to restart my DL's every few minutes. Any suggestions?

Which Linksys? I had very few problems with older models, but a recent
model WRV54G has caused us nothing but problems. It is a piece of junk!!!

It's the BEFSR81 wired Cable/DSL router, latest revision. I'm using it
with a cable modem. Surfs great. Downloads - bad.

Used a BEFSR81 for years without problems. Has yours been subjected to any
major power supply fluctuations? After a lightening storm, one of mine went
flakey with symptoms similar to yours. I'd suggest trying a different
firmware version (possibly downgrade?) and/or replacing the power supply.

It's new, fresh out of the box. The ONLY problem I have with it is the
download issue. It surfs great, networks with other PC's just fine
(file transfers, etc.). The download speed is good too, but for some
reason, using Agent newsreader, it'll just hang on any given binary
chunk. Weird.

Sounds like a good subject for DSLReports Linksys forum.

Cheers,

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
