Default router problem?

Hi

First time here, suffer from dyslexia so please allow for that.

I have a home Lan

Bband modem>4 port router( Dlink 604 had for maybe 2 years) 1 port direct to
this machine(working) 2 port to 24 port HUB 3 and 4 cant see, got that many
damn cables!! :-) but i know either 3 or 4 connects to the downstairs
machine.

I noticed my downstairs machine stoped email/web and lan, now upstairs and
my server has no acc, this 100% goes thru hub, is it possible for router to
lose just some ports and let 1 (this one works ok), checked cable from
router to hub, ping etc says expired in transit.

I replugged in my old port olicom 8 port hub and still

Unplugged router for a while.

*************

Sorryi thought of something while doing that..

I unplugged and replugged my modem, then i lost this machine with direct
connection.........a reboot and im back, i switched on another maachine
which used the hub and that is fine with other hub machines but none thru
router ports.

i enterd the http://192.168.0.1 and i got some error at the bottom i had
never seen or recognised before.

All the lights on the router seemed fine.

My conclusion is thats its the router, now even for me it was easy to set
up(forget now as it was long ago and must have been simple) but if i get a
new router is it easy to get my lan back up and running?

I hope i made sense
thanks
Jules
