I am new to VPNs and I am having a lot of trouble getting the VPN to work on the Linksys BEFSX41 router. As fars as I am concerned, this is a pathetic product which does not work. I have spent several hours trying to get this thing to work without success. Technical support from LINKSYS is fuill of morons. Even they don't understand what is not working and there solutions are way out in left field. I have seen several posts on this problem, and using LINKSYS technical support has been a total waste of time. My configuration is as follows: VPN server: Windows XP professional Router : BEFSX41 I set up my windows XP corporate machine at home to connect to the router: The setup on the client works fine, but I keep on getting Error 721. The VPN server does not give a response. I have done the port forwarding, 1723 and 47 to the static IP of my VPN server. I have also enabled PPTP pass through. I am using the latest version of firmware. Any suggestions? BTW - LINKSYS ROUTERS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Mark |

I need to get a copy of the firm ware as when I moved I misplaced it. I have access to a lot of 3com stuff and will try that next if I can't get the firm ware. Funny thing is it worked like a charm with cable, now I have switched to DSL and the damn thing refuses to work.\ Thanks Scott |
