Help with new router

Could anyone advise me on a Inexq ISW054u wireless router.

The router has four wire ports and a wireless.I have it connected and
working OK but the downloads to the main PC is down to 226 KBPS. If I put
the Cable Modem direct into the PC's card I get 1227 KBPS.

I have it set up thus. Cable Modem into the Router. No 1 port into the back
of PC and a laptop downstairs picking up the network via a card in the side
of the laptop.

I understand that the Laptop will only recieve a lower rate due to the
wireless connection but am I right in expecting a full speed through the
cat5 cable to the PC.
