Default HD crashed, ifconfig broken ?

Hi Friends,

If you have a broken HD and need to get data off of it, and have a
flavor for *nix, I recommend a great link about using Knoppix as a
rescue disk. I have used this to rescue Win boxes too.

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerwork...y/l-knopx.html

you can get a fresh knoppix-derived utility disk called AUDITOR at

http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/Auditor

This is a LINUX OS on a self booting CD. Hackers love it but it is
swell for system admins too. It has vulnerability assesment tools and
can also br used by Linix fluent folks to rescue Linux or Win file
systems. Just boot the Auditor disk, mount the file system and back up
the files.
