Greetings
I am having a couple of problems with my companies Linux server - Red Hat SE 3, and our clients - 5x Windows XP Pro SP2. First Problem. Samba 3.0 - Samba has been setup to share folders and printers, the printer sharing is working fine but the file sharing is not. I have created a shared folder called share - /share - I have specified the users who can access it, which is ok. from Windows, I double click on Network Places, Samba Server, Share But I cannot create a folder or save a file to the shared folder, I get the error message - you do not have the priveledges to do this. When I click on the Samba server from Windows, I logon sucessfully. Below is a copy of the smb.conf file I use :- [global] workgroup = 181230 local master = yes hosts allow = 217.34.63.169 189 encrypt passwords = true security = user users = @sgcs smb passwd file = /etc/smbpasswd [Printers] comment = HP LJ1200 path = /var/spool/samba printable = yes guest ok = yes use client driver = yes browsable = no [Share] comment = Share Folder path = /share read only = no public = yes I find it strange that I can see the folder and I can open a file in the folder, but I cannot create a new folder and I cannot save any documents...HELP!!!! Second Problem Sendmail I cannot get this working at all, I have followed the manual and HOWTO documents, but the mail client = MS Outlook 2000 cannot access the sendmail server to retreive the emails which has to be configured to be kept on the Red Hat server. How do I setup the user identities on the Red Hat server to access the persons emails - there is nowhere in the sendmail.mc file or am I looking in the wrong direction... If anyone can help me I will forever be in your debt.. Many thanks Stuart Stuart Grier |

You don't use Sendmail for picking mails up from a server. You need a POP or IMAP server (depending on if you want the mails downloaded or left on the server). Paul |
