Slow GRE Tunnels

Hi ,

I am trying to create a gre tunnel between two linux routers. I am able
to create the tunnel and can send traffic through the tunnel. But its
very slow. The speed between the 2 network decreases by more than half
when routed through the tunnel.

Any ideas to improve the performance would be greatly appreciated
