Please start a DOS prompt, run this command and
post the exact output here: ipconfig /all "Christer Mattsson" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:rFKWa.18391$(E-Mail Removed)... > Hello! > > Something strange happened. > > My PCI Network; used to call itself D-Link; between two reboots it lost its > drivers, MAC-address, and changed its name to Via TV86C100A. > > > Very odd, I cannot see that anything significant has happened. > > > Anyone experienced this before? > > How do I restore the MAC-address? You can use this address: (E-Mail Removed).
It works if you drop the "x". The command "ipconfig /all" is not a solution; it is the first step in the diagnostic process. Furthermore, if you are concerned about posting your internal IP address then you should urgently install a firewall. Keep in mind that each time you send an EMail to someone, the recipient can extract your IP address from the mail header. The same applies to Internet sites you visit: They can easily harvest your address. Hi again!
Thanks for your effort. I have firewalls (yes two) one in my D-link router/gateway and one SW on my computer. I will extract the information and send it to you. Can you explain what you are looking for in the ipconfig/all? Best regards Christer Mattsson "Pegasus (MVP)" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:bgg1qr$596$(E-Mail Removed)... > You can use this address: (E-Mail Removed). > It works if you drop the "x". > > The command "ipconfig /all" is not a solution; it is the > first step in the diagnostic process. If you read the posts in this newsgroup then you will
see that they are generated by people from lots of different backgrounds. Some are experts and some know nothing at all about networking. I will therefore take nothing for granted and make no assumptions about anything. As I said before, the output from ipconfig.exe is a starting point only, nothing more, to give me some background info about your setup. It is well possible that it is the end point too - I have no magic want to wave at your problem.
