Default kpc650/verizon wireless broadband/fedora

is anyone using the kpc650 kyocera card on linux, any hints on how to
get it working ? i haven't been able to find anything on the net about
it, but i did find some information about another verizon card that
wasn't very helpful. one thing that would really be helpful is to
understand how you set the usb devices up as serial ports. when i plug
the card in i get two usb devices loaded, but they don't appear in /dev
anywhere that i can find, so i don't know how to even access them. one
of the devices is named something like kpc650 and has two unique id's
with it, one being the product id. but i don't know how to use them to
make a serial port on fedora. do any of you know ?
