Default cisco vpn client

I am having trouble installing the cisco vpn client on Suse 9.1 kernel
2.6.5.7.147. The error is "No rule to make target modules. Stop" I
have noticed that the directory /lib/modules/2.6.5-7.147-default has a
build and source shortcut (windows term, I am a linux rookie). The
source shortcut is red with an unknown file type and points to a dir
that doesn't exist. It points to "/usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.147" but the
only thing in the dir is "/usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.147-obj" and
"packages" Maybe the properties window for this file is truncating the
"points to" path, I don't know. Not sure if this even matters. All I
know is that I cannot install the vpn client and I need it for work. I
have noticed in the "linux_os.h" file it has some macros to determine
the kernel version but mine is not in there. Any suggestions.

PS I am logged in as root and vpn is trying to install as usr. not
sure if this matters

Be gentle, I am a rookie. ;-)
