Can anyone recommend low-cost traffic shaping/ip accounting DIY solutions?
My boss is asking me to implement some type of network traffic-shaping for our webhosting business. I have been looking into few commercial solutions such as Packeteer's PacketShaper and Cisco's 3800 Integrated Service Router. Needless to say, they are way too expensive for us to deploy. I need something that costs around $1000 and rack-mountable. Thank in advance! Harry E. |

You'll probably have to invest more manpower into it than you would a 'turn-key' solution from the like of Cisco though. http://lartc.org/ http://lartc.org/wondershaper/ http://howtos.linux.com/guides/nag2/...counting.shtml http://ipac-ng.sourceforge.net/ -- Remember, God could only create the world in 6 days because he didn't have an established user base. |

It's not $1000 though, but closer than what you've looked at. |
