Socket operation on non-socket

I recently purchased a limksys router for my host
computer and a linksys wireless adapater for my laptop.
The host computer works fine with windows xp but the
laptop with windows 98 keeps giving me socket operation
on non-socket error message. I know the socket works
cause it works with the regular ethernet card. The
device manager says that the wireless adapater card is
working properly so its not the card either. When it ask
for the missing file i direct it to the location and
installation completes succesfully but the error socket
operation on non socket appears right after and when i
restart the computer. Pleas help ive been working on this
for 3 days straight and am out of ideas! Thanks Josh
