netwoerk connection with xircom card bus modem CEM56G-100

Hi, I have w toshiba tecra 8000 portabel and I try to connet to my home
network via a xircom realport ethert 10/100 modemcard. I have downloaded the
latest updates both for drivers and firmware but I still can't get the
connection going. Whenever I start win 98 it tells me that the installation
of de hardware is not correct. I have checked the system and adapter status,
updated the drivers but no result. At 1 time I got an error 1F6 with the
notion that windows could not install the software. This xircom has worked on
this pc before. Any help is more than welcome
