I have a peer-to-peer network using a router and cat5e cable for my desktops
(XP and 98SE) and a wireless 802.11g connection for my laptop (XP). I have two printers, an HP LaserJet 1100 and a Compaq IJ300, connected to my WinXP desktop. My WinXP laptop can see and use the printers, but the Win98SE machine cannot. I installed "additional drivers" for both printers, but to no avail. I can see and use the shared folders on the XP machine, but not the printers. What can I do? GateKeeper |

Make sure that the printers' share names aren't longer than 12 characters. If they are, Win98SE won't be able to see them. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. THANK YOU!!! I searched and searched for this information and could not
find it anywhere. I shortened the printer names to less than 12 characters as you suggested, and POW! I was instantly able to use the printers. Thanks again. Guess you earned those letters.
