Default Samba wont install

Linux 7.2 user for two weeks and stuck.

I downloaded Samba so I can try to set it up to see my win98 system and my
linux to move files.

Samba works in window but I get the following error.

"failed to execute Command samba.exe Pemission denied (13)

This has been going of for three days. I get the same error when I try to
install games as well in the linux system.

Any ideas would be helpful.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do here. Do you have two
separate machines, connected by a network through which you intend to move
files? If not, there's no need for samba.

If in fact you do, then the error you see ""failed to execute Command
samba.exe Pemission denied (13)" is perplexing. Samba is not intended to
run in Windows; Windows already has what is needed to use Windows
networking. Samba runs on your linux machine to allow it to join a
Windows network and share files and other resources.

If you have installed the SWAT Samba configuration tool, it includes the
full text of the book "Using Samba" and should help you in correctly
installing and configuring samba.

There is no such thing as Linux 7.2. The most recent version is 2.6.
Presumably you refer to some distro. So which one? I can't think of any
with a recent 7.2 release BTW, so I suspect that what you are using may
be a bit old. You might want a later one.

? Please clarify, that doesn't make sense.

What is "samba.exe"? .exe suffices are normally used for Windows
binaries. What exactly did you download? And after that, what did you do
to install it?

Most modern Linux distros include Samba, it isn't normally necessary to
download it.

What games? Are you trying to install Windows games into Linux by any
chance? That won't work. There are Linux ports of many popular games but
you need to use the Linux versions.

ok.. lets try this again.. hopefully better explanation.

two seperat systems working though my home network.

one box is windows 98

second box is running Linux 7.2

Linux box is the one were I can not get any thing to load. Samba or any
linux games I have downloaded to try and play. I have also downloaded
Mozilla upgrade for the Linux box

That fail to load command and (13) error code keeps comeing up on the linux
box.

The Linux box can surf the web and play games that came with the load for
that version of soft ware, but anything else I try to install wont work. I
have tried the install from both user name and root log ins.

still stuck.

There still isn't any such thing. Please tell us the distro!

Please tell us exactly what you downloaded, and from where, and the
steps you took to try to install it, what produced the error messages
and exactly what they were. Then we can help. With the information you
have provided no-one can.
