This may seem like an ignorant question, but...
Can netfilter/iptables be installed on any linux distro, provided that the linux kernel is at least at 2.4? Lyle H. Gray |

Netfilter and IPtables are integrated in the Linux 2.4.x kernel series. They are not distribution-specific. -- use hotmail com for any email replies -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

Yes. As you can see, iptables is made up of two parts: the kernel
implementation, included in most 2.4 kernels (it can be omitted during compilation but no dostro make that as far as I know) and the user-land tools, the iptables command you surely know. You can download the user-space tools from www.iptables.org and comile them. It's very easy. Lyle H.
