Hi,
I have Windows 98 machine connected to a domain. Recently, a new pc was purchased and is installed with Windows XP Professional. As I shared a folder out from the windows XP pc, none of the Windows 98 machines are able to browse the share nor the machine on the network, but the Windows XP machine is able to browse the Windows 98 machine on the network. The netbios is enabled for both the Windows 98 and Windows XP machine. Can anyone help? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Choong Whye |

Make sure that XP's Internet Connection Firewall is disabled on the local area network connection. Details here: Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...c_firewall.htm Windows 98 can't see an XP share if the share name is longer than 12 characters. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups.
