We have:
A desktop running XP Pro, which has access to the internet via adsl. A desktop running W2K these two computers are networked together with an Edimax 5-port switch. The switch also serves as a wireless access point (802.11g). We also have a laptop running XP Home with built-in wireless adapter (802.11b). All three computers can access each other on the network. Only the XP Pro can access the internet. We've checked all settings we can think of.... what haven't we thought of? this on the NIC properties in Network Connections). many thanks for all your suggestions - although I don't entirely understand
yours, John and would appreciate further elucidation. However, we have found a solution which might be of interest. We ran the setup disk for the (ADSL) modem which included network configuration having connected the modem to the switchbox via a network cable. We had to set all the computers to automatic configuration of IP address. Everything burst into life - including my new Ipaq that I'd all but given up on! Thanks again - any comments would be of interest. Double click on the network adapter, and then the Support tab. The gateway IP
should be set to the gateway.
