Dell Inspiron 8600 w/ Dell minipci 1450 Card and Linksys WRT54GC
WinXP Trying to get WPA2 Personal working between the two. Dell states that the card can perform WPA2 but the http://certifications.wi-fi.org/wbcs...ucts.php?TID=2 only says WPA. Currently WPA-PSK w/TKIP works fine but just trying to get WPA2 to work. My first question is clarification on WPA2. Is WPA2 the same as WPA-PSK with AES encryption? If I try to setup WPA-PSK w/AES I get a connection and M$ states I have authenticated, but I am unable to ping the router. If I set it back to TKIP, all works. Just searching for a solution if possible. moncho moncho |

I also have the most recent version of the Dell 1450 driver. I was hoping that would make a difference when I started having the problem. I was bummed when it made no difference. Thanks, moncho |

If you happen to be using XP Wireless Zero Config, that might be the problem. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en However, there are some parts and pieces of WPA2 missing: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1820921,00.asp -- Jeff Liebermann (E-Mail Removed) 150 Felker St #D http://www.LearnByDestroying.com Santa Cruz CA 95060 http://802.11junk.com Skype: JeffLiebermann AE6KS 831-336-2558 |

I found out that the Dell software was causing the problem, shut it off and now all is well with WPA2-PSK. I feel a little more secure now. Thanks for the links moncho |
