Wireless Cable - Slow Download Speed

I have wireless cable using a Netgear WGR614v5 router. I just subscribed to
InsightBB's 6000/512 service and have run speed tests and have averaged
1200-1800 download speeds compared to upload speed of 480+ which is
appreciably more than I had when I was using InsightBB's 4000/384 service.
Insight has tested the modem connection to the router and says the 6000/512
service checks out. I have upgraded all the software on my wireless PC and
the router, still no improvement. I am wondering if it is the router. Also
I have talked with Netgear and no results. Any suggestions?
