Default Need Help Troubleshooting

Can someone help me with networking my two computers directly? I have
crossover cable and network adapters for both already. I tried doing it
already, but for some odd reason, one computer keeps deleting the client
for microsoft networks. Any fix for this? And can someone tell me a good
step-by-step procedure for networking these crapboxes?
