I have two computers in the same room and I bought a
linksys Etherfast cable/dsl router (model befsr41) to connect the second computer to the internet. The main computer is a Compaq Presario 5wv294 and runs windows ME and this computer is the gateway 2000 running windows 98. I would really like to network the computers so I can access programs and documents saved to one computer by the other computer, but have been unable to do so after reading the tutorials and running the network wizard. The linksys support ran a ping test on both computers and only the Compa got the proper ping (it had a response and number for four lines. The computer (the gatway) got all 0's for a response. How can I get the two computers properly networked?? Please help I don't know where else to turn. Thanks, Kelly Kelly |

Assuming you left the router at the default settings, you hould be receiving
an IP address in the 192.168.1.x network, where x is a unique number. On the 98 PC, click and start, run and type winipcfg /all Post back with the results.
