Default error 59

keep getting this message on startup (Windows 98 SE): "The
following error occured while loading protocol number 1.
Error 59: A network error has occurred."

Then it opens in safe mode and operates very slowly.

Help.
Thanks,

Default Re: error 59

This error message usually means that the network is improperly configured
(looking for DNS or a domain controller that is not present, or trying to
log onto a network that is not present) or that there is a problem with the
network connection (bad card, cable, switch, etc).
