Hello,
I am a newbie in wireless networking an I am trying to setup a wireless connection between my notebook (medion MD 40100 with internal Prism Nitro) and my newly both access point (US Robotics). I tried different things: scan on all channels, specifying Network name and Network type myself (I had to disable the checkbox 'auto configure wireless network' in windows properties of wireless network connection), enabling & disabling WEP etc. At no stage I was able to wireless connect to the AP and I don't think it's a matter of distance or interference because I placed myself next to it now. The only thing I managed to do (without any changes) was to connect to the internet through this router with a wire, but that's not the reason why I bought this AP ;-) Both the adapter and the access point help is rather short on this, the only thing US Robotics mention is that the adapter needs to be in infrastructure mode, which I didn't find in the configuration settings of the Prism adapter, but I suppose it equal to the Prism adapter setting of Network Type = Access Point Can anybody give me some guidelines on this ? Tx Some detail info: OS: Windows XP Home Adapter : PRISM 802.11g Wireless Adapter (3890) Access Point : US Robotics Wireless Turbo Access Point & Router (8054) Gert Gert Van der Straeten |
