I have a wireless router on the first floor, and I'd like to connect a
computer on the second floor to this network. The computer is in a room directly above the first floor's computer and wireless router. Running cable is not possible. Both computers are running Windows XP SP 1. Which device would provide the strongest wireless connection for the second-floor computer: a USB adapter, a PCI adapter or an ethernet bridge? hanks. --Art Nospam |

Realistically, you'll get about 1/2 that. USB, PCI, or even 10Mbps ethernet will easy handle that bandwidth. After that, its just a matter of who makes the wifi device and how well they did it. You could probably trust Orinoco, Linksys, and Dlink to make high quality cards. Of course, those $30 ones out there are tempting. YOur best bet is to buy one from a store like Circuit City (in U.S) or Futureshop (in CAN) that gives you a 30 day return policy. Good luck, Mitchua |
