Default Win XP - can't ping router

Hi.

I have a USR SureConnect ADSL wireless gateway. I can connect to it fine
with my laptop, which has a USR Wireless Turbo PCMCIA card, running
Win2K Pro.

However, my desktop, which has a Belkin pci wireless adapter won't
connect properly. It detects the wireless network, and appears to
connect to it, but I can't browse the web. All IP addresses seem fine,
but I can't get a ping response from the gateway, it always times out.
I get the same with or without WEP enabled.

Does anyone know it there's an issue between USR and Belkin products
please?

TIA

This sounds like the problem I'm having with my neighbor's XP box. She
has a Belkin wireless PCI card. It worked great for a little while, then
quit. Signal strength is great, but no connection. The access point is a
D-Link router/NAT.
I'm sorry I donąt have a solution, just thought you'd like to you know
you have company.

newbie question/answer
Are you using the XP's or the adapter's network connection manager?
I believe you should use the adapter's and possibly disable the XP's.
Worked for me on my XP computer (Gigafast USB adapter and D-Link wireless
router)
later,
dave

I have a problem at times with the belkin USB wireless B plug.
I go to the network neighborhood and disable the connection and then wait 5
sec. and then enable it.
I then have a good connection that last the day. I don't have this problem
all the time just on occasion.

Are you operating your gateway in Turbo (22 Mbps) mode? This is a
proprietary technology that will not work when you mix manufacturers.
