I setup MAC filtering on my Dlink 614+ router to increase security for my
wireless network but now my XBOX cant connect to XBOX LIVE because I havent type in its MAC address into the router. Can I just do a ipconfig /a then its ip address? thanks RadarG RadarG |

The Xbox MAC should show up there. Q |

1) Disable the MAC filtering.
2) Let the XBOX get an IP address some way or another and determine what it is (left as an exercise for the reader). 3) From a Windows machine on the network, ping the XBOX. 4) From the same Windows machine's command line, type "arp -a". That will give you the contents of the Windows machine's address resolution table, which, since you just pinged the XBOX, will contain the IP-to-MAC translation for the XBOX interface. 5) Reenable the MAC filtering and use the MAC address you learned in step 4. Alternatively, 1) Disable the MAC filtering. 2) Let the XBOX get an IP address via DHCP. 3) On the DI-614+ Home/DHCP configuration page, read the MAC address off the screen. 4) Reenable the MAC filtering and use the MAC address you learned in step 3.
