Silly me in a fit of inattentiveness let Windows 2000 update give me a new
Orinoco driver. I had been running it with a Linksys BEFW11S4 at 128-bit and it had been working absolutely wonderfully. Well Windows update fragged my Orinoco driver. After much headaches of uninstalling and ferreting out junk I got the card back working. I used the latest client software and drivers from Orinoco. I also flashed the latest card firmware. Now I can only get 64-bit WEP. All settings in the router are unchanged. Doing exactly what I had done before at 128-bit yields a full strength signal indication, the client manager shows the router, it's MAC address, etc., but the link test menu choice is grayed out and there is no apparent traffic between the two. Going down to 64-bit (or none) and all is ok. Anyone have any ideas as to what happened, and most importantly, how to get 128-bit WEP back? __________________________________________________ _______________ JG... With the card installed, from device manager, remove it. On reboot with the card removed, reinstall the Orinoco driver and then install the card as though it were new. Q |

Re: my previous message, the Prism configuration manager is more likely removed from Add/Remove Programs, than simply deleting the control panel. Q |
