I have a ethernet network that connects 2 PC's via a hub. One is Win XP
home, the other Win98 SE. I am buying a notebook (old one) and am considering getting a network card for it. The setup I'd like to have is to run cables from the two spare ports on the hub to wall sockets in two other rooms in order to join the network as an when required. The notebook will be running Win98SE, and I'd like to share the internet connection as I do with the others on the network. My Questions:- Assuming that the notebook has been configured to use the network successfully, if the other 2 PC's are up and running and I plug the notebook into one of the sockets and turn it on, will the network recognise the notbook and share the files/connections without having to re-boot the others? Does plugging any pc into a running network cause any problems such as blowing up interfaces etc? Thanks David David |
