Not quite, you don't want a wireless router, you want a wireless access
point. If all you're trying to do is get access to the internet, then
802.11b will suffice and you should have no problems getting cheap
units.

Probably, depends on many factors but the chance is very highly likely.

You'll also need a wireless network card in your other PC.

Why not a wireless router? This would give you hard wire & wireless.
