It would really help if you gave a little more information. And
explain as to what you mean by "a spot"

well i would like to have internet access at my new place of employment.
other high speed services are unavailable to me..(dsl/cable/satellite). So

I can't figure why satellite isn't available. But ClearSky say they
serve your town. I don't know the details at all, but it would only cost
you a phone call to find out more. 1-800-680-2203

Another possibility exists. Get a PCMCIA card from Sierra or other
companies---which card connects to T-Mobil, AT&T, Sprint and basically
hook into a cell-phone network.

I have my IBM laptop hooked via a Sony-Ericsson GC75 PCMCIA card to the
T-Mobil network and it works fine. (Of course T-Mobil isn't everywhere,
which is why Sprint might work better for some people.)

I use my setup primarily for e-mail but I have also browsed the web with it.

One easy way is to go to http://www.hageltech.com/dumeter/ and download DU Meter. It's a great little program that will monitor both upload & download speeds.

The speed is faster than a phone modem, but quite a bit slower than anything else.

I would do my web surfing with Internet Explorer with all pictures turned off to speed it up. In addition, T-Mobile included software which also speeded up the process.

Due to my ignorance I cannot really say precisely what the speed was, sorry about that. Now, if someone wanted to explain to me how I might be able to determine download speed I just might give it a try. Somewhere I vaguely recall that maybe it was on Microsoft's web site that there was a way to check speed.
