Hi !
I am facing a very strange problem while trying to connect my laptop wirelessly with my cable/dsl router. Every time I connect my laptop wirelessly to use internet, it looses connection with my router every 3 minutes ! Then I will have to right click the network icon in taskbar and click "connect" and it will work just fine for another 3 min and so on...... Here is what I have tried : I have tried to different laptops, one with Intel Pro 2100 wireless card and other with Netgrear wirelss PCMCIA adapter Microsoft MN 500 Broadband router and Netgear Broadband Router Mediacom cable internet with Motorola Surfboard 4200 cable modem at 1.5 mbps and Frontiernet DSL internet with Speedstream DSL modem at 1 mbps I have tried six different possible combinations of these options and with all, I ended up with the same result. Surprisingly, when I take my laptops to my University's wirelsss networking area, it works just fine for hours without any problem ! Mediacom and Frontiernet denied providing any help with wireless networks. I have tried getting tech support from Microsoft, Dell and Netgear but nothing helped ! Is there any wireless expert out there who can help me ? Thanks for reading. Mayur Mayur Acharya |

I experienced a very similar problem with a Centrino laptop and a Belkin
wireless router. After weeks of frustration trying numerous suggested fixes I flashed the firmware on the Belkin and that seemed to do the trick - let me know if this works in your case. The only other thing to consider would be environmental factors in your house (fabric of walls/floors, use of digital cordless phones etc...) Hi,
I have experienced the same, I solved the problem by changing the firmeware setting in the wireless setup (the advanced section). Actually there is a parameter, which has been set to 3, if you change the value to 50 this should do the trick. /Jep "Mayur Acharya" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:<R8CNa.11300$(E-Mail Removed)>... > Hi ! > > I am facing a very strange problem while trying to connect my laptop > wirelessly with my cable/dsl router. > > Every time I connect my laptop wirelessly to use internet, it looses > connection with my router every 3 minutes ! Is your net card "on" the motherboard or is it a seperate card. I have a net
connection on my soyo mb and it does that. I replaced it with an old nic card I had sitting around and my system runs great now. Thank you.
I will try that one last time and then I am giving up all the hopes to use wireless networking in my home. Hi,
you may live near a high power radar site on the same band ![]() see if you can try out some 802.11a kit before throwing the towel in. also make sure all power saving is turned off on the laptop card , just in case its that.
