I first made a flat template from a sheet of aluminum. Just carved away while periodically testing it's shape with the template. I just spun it round, and used a couple of wood planers, took a few hours and a lot of work and many blade sharpenings later it was basically finished. I finished it off on a normal metal lathe that could hold a 60cm dia piece of wood, used a chisel in hand, just the last 1/4". It's been many years since I last did anything like this (I won't say how many ), was at school when I last did any lathe work.Was fun though. Clive |
