My setup - I have a Linksys NSLU2 (slug) storage hub connected to 2 USB
hard drives. I've stored all my music on there and listen to the music through ITunes on my laptop over a wireless network. I'd like to be able to listen to all this music while I'm at work. What is the easiest way to acheive this? If I have ITunes installed on my work PC, can I just set the library location to be my home folders? I tried to do this by setting the NSLU2 up as an ftp server. I can see the files from my work PC, but can't get ITunes to set that network place as the location for the music files? Would it make a difference if I connected as a web server, rather than a ftp server? Is it feasible to play music over a network like this? My home internet connection has an upload speed of 256kps. If possible, I want everything to run from the NSLU2, as I don't want to have to leave my laptop switched on the whole time. Also, my wife sometimes takes it away. Thanks Simon |

Hello Simon
Your question to accessing music over the Internet will be too slow. Best thing to do is buy a removable hard drive that you can use at work and at home. Its really the only solution. Hope this helps Regards Andrew Bell "Simon" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed) ups.com... > My setup - I have a Linksys NSLU2 (slug) storage hub connected to 2 USB > hard drives. I use RendezvousProxy to help with the tunneling. I have a 200Kb upload from my home machine (NTL cable), and 2Mb download at work. I don't have any problems. Also bear in mind that work's internet access is shared between up to 650 PCs. The great thing about using iTunes this way rather than Shoutcast or Windows Media Streaming (both of which I've used before without problem) is that you get access to your full music library that you can play in any order, rather than rely on a pre-made playlist or a VNC/Remote Desktop session into your home machine to change tracks. deKay -- + Lofi Gaming: www.lofi-gaming.org.uk [Gamertag: deKay 01] |- Gaming Diary: www.lofi-gaming.org.uk/diary/ |- My computer runs at 3.5MHz and I'm proud of that |- CSS Crap Games Comp 2005: http://www.lofi-gaming.org.uk/speccy/cgc2005/ |
