I have a Netgear Dg834g linked by cable to my PC. My PDA picks up a good
wireless connection no problem. How do I now link up my old laptop wirelessly please? The laptop is an old Toshiba and has a WiFi card/capability. The red wireless light flashes but I cannot get it to connect or see with any router (there are several around the neighbourhood). Can you point me to a simple step by step guide please? Thanks Julie Julie Meikle |

What settings do you have on the Tosh for SSID and channel - do they match those used by the Netgear. some clues about operating system and model may be helpful. I've now managed to get it to work....not sure how I just kept playing with the settings. The Desktop is XP Pro, the laptop is 98SE using an internal mini LAN card....only "b" standard. The laptop is a Toshiba 4600 Satellite Pro...only 128mb RAM, I have 2GB on my shiny new PC! There is still one issue though....the Tosh gives a warning message saying it cannot connect to AP. Also the range is not too good. I cannot use it in the kitchen as the PC and router are 2 flights of stairs away and at opposite ends of the flat. Several thick walls I suppose. So any suggestions gratefully received. Now to find a way of enabling my work laptop to use WiFi.......we are unable to install anything and it is not wireless enabled!! Julie |

Also sold as "game adaptors" for connecting X-box etc. Phil -- Usenet spam eaten by a Hamster http://www.tglsoft.de/ No more cable clowns :-)) Please do not feed or re-quote the trolls. |

If you are unable to install anything, then even using it on your home network might fall foul of the requirements of your employer. Why bother when you now have a number of working systems, if you might download something which *could remain* on their laptop and lead to questions about how it got there...
