At the point when it asks for the Win98 CD, put the CD in and use the browse button to navigate to the CD's Win98 folder. (at that point you could also open Explorer and view contents of the CD Win98 folder and attempt to verify that the cab file is there). The prompts should also be showing you what files its looking for in a cab file it names. Posting that info here would also help others that may be able to help you. -dj "Adam" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:316801c33fe4$64df3930$(E-Mail Removed)... > I recently had a virus on my computer, and after > installing anti-virue software, I am finally getting the > computer back to normal. > > However, I have lost my DSL connection and my printers as > well. > > For the DSL problem, we had to remove the TCP/IP and then > add them again. At the prompt, I put the CD in but it won't find the file on the CD. It gives me this message: "The File "FINSTALL.DLL" on Windows 98 Second Edition CD- ROM cannot be found. Insert Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM in Selected drive and click OK." If I click on the details button, I get this message: "Error Message: The Following Error occurred: 'The path was not found' (error #3) Setup could not finish opening a file on the source disk. Source file: F:\INSTALLS\WinCabs\98se\ICONLIB.DLL Destination File: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ICONLIB.DLL=DRIVER12.CAB" Hopefully this will help identify the problem. Thanks! ok .... when it cant find the file, there should be a browse button also on the pop up window which allows you to navigate to CD and specify (point to) the folder on the CD with the cab files in it. -dj "Adam" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:3c0801c34048$088717c0$(E-Mail Removed)... > At the prompt, I put the CD in but it won't find the file > on the CD. > > It gives me this message: > > "The File "FINSTALL.DLL" on Windows 98 Second Edition CD- > ROM cannot be found. > > Insert Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM in Selected drive > and click OK." > > If I click on the details button, I get this message: > > "Error Message: > > The Following Error occurred: 'The path was not found' > (error #3) > > Setup could not finish opening a file on the source disk. > > Source file: F:\INSTALLS\WinCabs\98se\ICONLIB.DLL > Destination File: > C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ICONLIB.DLL=DRIVER12.CAB" > > Hopefully this will help identify the problem. > > Thanks! > > Adam > > > >-----Original Message----- > >At the point when it asks for the Win98 CD, put the CD in > and use the browse > >button to navigate to the CD's Win98 folder.
