Pointed the default directory to c:\scans Shared c:\scans so all PC on the network could see it. All the operator has to do , is put in the document , hit scan button. Remove document. Go back to PC and can access his doc from there. This shared pc now acts as a print server as well. Simple and cheap. Providing you have a spare PC |

The scanner has to support scanning over the network - I know some HP
scanners have such a facility to do so. On Sat, 1 Oct 2005 19:46:37 -0700, "Bob" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote: >Does anyone know of a way to sahre a scanner on two home PCs networked >together via XP HOme? >tia > |

It's a little box that plugs into the USB device and connects it to a spare network port, plus some software that gives Windows a virtual USB port to play with. As far as your scanning software is concerned, the device is connected locally. I haven't used one m'self, but I can't see anything wrong with the theory: I've done exactly the same with RS232 serial devices. <http://www.everythingusb.com/hardware/index/Keyspan_USB_Server.htm> -- -Gareth Halfacree http://gareth.halfacree.co.uk |
