Windows is probably easiest, I've been running Windows Server 2003 for a
while now with no problems, though now switching to Suse 9.3 because Bill
Gates is the spawn of Satan. Linux is free and not half as difficult as you
might expect, though you'll have to spend some time configuring things like
Samba to replicate your Win Server capabilities.

Depends what you can afford and what you want it to do.

I think that most people who know both systems well would choose Linux
over Windows, so my guess is that you don't know Linux very well. In
that situation I would opt for a Windows server, but plan on learning
more about Linux. By the time you have done that you will be able to
make an informed choice between Linux and BSD.
