I have an old PII machine (Gibabyte 686-LX) which I've been trying to
get a Belkin 802.11g PCI card to work with but it just doesn't seem compatible. With the card inserted the machine doesn't do a thing - won't POST or even show a video signal. There are no other cards in the machine except for the video card (tried PCI and AGP). First question: am I likely to ever get this card to work in this machine and Second: If not are there any cards that are likely to work with it? BTW I seem to have the latest BIOS in the machine and I've tried the card in another (newer) machine and it works fine. Any help appreciated. Paul |

No it won't, I've been down this route and I think you'll find that the PCI bus and/or BIOS is too old. Even when I found a PCI card that claimed to work it still wouldn't. I gave up in the end and used a USB WiFi Dongle as the PC had two spare USB sockets. If you haven't got USB you may have more success in fitting a PCI USB card? -- Regards Barry |
