Default wifi dropping

I have a 8.5db panel omni-directional antenna on the end of a US robotics
wireless router.

I also have a 15db yagi directional antenna on the end of a trust PCI wifi
card.

200 meters between the two.

Using network stumbler. i get about 14-24 SNR. It used to be 7-10, but i
have improved it by getting rid of some branches in the LOS.

The signal stays strong, but the connection in XP drops then it regains a
signal again, sometimes when i am playing games over the internet, i dont
even noticed this has happened! but sometimes, the game disconnects.

When downloading a file off the internet, it does so VERY SLOWLY, i am on
512 ADSL, and i get 10k downloads, or less! and everytime i download a file,
it stops at least 3 times. Luckily, i cancel the download, and start again
and XP continues from where it stopped.

What could be wrong??

As i say, the signal is strong and this problem is 2 weeks old or so and i
have had this setup running since october.
