To make use of my d-link access point before broadband come to my area I
have plugged it into my desktops LAN port and config it on the right channel and network. I have purchased a d;link wireless net work card and placed it into my lap top and set this with the same channel network name. the laptop network says its connected to a wireless LAN but I cannot access the other pcs. The idea was to share the dialup connection from the desktop with the laptop to allow me to work on line anywhere around the house of garden. Any ideas what I am doing wrong or how I can solve this please. been at it for 4 days and getting a little disheartened. Many thanks in advance -- Failure is not falling down, it is not getting up again. Bootneck |

Try setting your wireless card to infrastructure mode. I assume the IP address of the AP is 192.168.0.xx ,as long as it is not 192.168.0.1. |

If so you need to go into Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Exceptions and tick File and Printer Sharing as it blocks it by default. -- Conor "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most."
