Hi there
I have a small network at home, with 3 PCs. I have also a printer which is directly connected to one of the PCs, which is of course annoying if I want to print from one of the other 2 computers. Can I put the printer on the network? Is it a "print server" I am looking for? Will any print server work with any printer, or are there compatibility issues? Thanks, Peter Peter Kirk |

you have two options
1. buy an external print server like a HP JetDirect 2. share the printer within Windows - this means the PC with the printer connected must be on all the time. On the PC with the printer, right click on the printer in the `printer' folder, select properties, click on `share'. on the other PC's you need to `add' new printer, it'll ask for the location, choose `network' and `browse' across the network to find it and choose it and then the printer drivers etc will be installed on the relevent PC/'s. ( it might ask for the printer cd-rom). Clansman |
