Stopping All Connections For Short Periods. How?
Hi, Anyone know of a simple small application or command that can switch off or on all inter\net communications on a particular computer? Basically I use a router but there are times I want to stop any outgoing connections from my XP PC. I no longer use a software firewall (OutPost) and the router is leaky and doesn't stop errant programs from connecting to the net. I sometimes want to block these for a short time. I'm looking for a single click solution if possible. Any suggestions? Pete Pete |

But I'm not sure it's worthwhile. If by "errant programs" you mean ones you haven't run, then a software firewall should be ideal. Alex |

Has an option from system tray to Block All traffic or individual applications. 2) Create a new shortcut. In the command line put NET STOP. Create another one and put NET START instead. -- Conor Windows & Outlook/OE in particular, shipped with settings making them as open to entry as a starlet in a porno. Steve B |

Go to Network Connection, right drag "Local Area Connection" (it's normally called) to desktop, create shortcut. Right click shortcut - Enable/Disable. (Seems a bit heavy handed though!) -- Tim |

Cheers Guys, This is the basic method I have chosen: I created an icon in the quick launch bar (on the hidden part) and right click to enable \ disable works great from there. I tried putting it in the notification area but on disabling it it just disappeared. Now I can only think that I must be really thick for not thinking of this myself but I guess I can't have the 'looks' and the 'brains' but then again God was cruel to me on both counts )Thanks again and now sorted for my needs.
