Default help with wireless... again

i have a wireless network setup

i have setup ICS

the network is

192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

the PC address is set to 192.168.0.1 i was told by the OS that any computers
connecting to the network should obtain their address automatically

so i set my laptop to obtain its address automatically

i have had loadsa addresses on laptop

192.168.0.105
192.168.0.16
192.168.0.32

loads

but all of a sudden now on the PC i always have address 192.168.0.1 but
whenever the laptop aquires its address automatically from the network which
i have named "HOME WIRELESS" the IP of the laptop becomes an IP starting
with

169.x.x.x/255.255.0.0

im not sure if the subnet mask is correct it may be 255.0.0.0

either way

it isnt acquiring the correct address it should be a 192.168.x.x address

i am using zone alarm and do have it setup as ICS/NAT gateway on PC with
address as 192.168.0.1 and do have the laptop setup with zone alarm as a
client with gateway address as 192.168.0.1

I have tried manually giving the laptop an ip address of 192.168.0.10 and i
can connect to my shared drives

however the Internet Connection sharing does not appear to work

even when i disable Zone alarm on both platforms so it cant be zone alarm
causing the problem

so can anyone explain why my laptop is acquiring the wrong IP address but
appears to connecting the home wireless network?

please help i would appreciate it loads!!

Thanks (in advance)

Christo

That looks like the default windows address when it cant find a DHCP
server. You sure DHCP is working on the laptop ?.

just deleted the home wireless network, setup another one and it works fine

i tried doing ICS without DHCP

gave laptop static IP address etc, and set the DNS server as 192.168.0.1 and
the gateway as 192.168.0.1 and laptop had static ip
192.168.0.12/255.255.255.0 yet ICS wouldn't work

deleted network re booted laptop and desktop ICS worked

dunno what was goin on before?
