I am looking into buying a used laptop which won't have wireless as
standard. The model could be Sharp PC-GP1515. Is it straightforward/possible to upgrade to wireless? Is simply a wireless card in one ofd the slots (PCMCIA?) Trevor Appleton |

Yes, exactly that, doing it here with a Vaio. If you can try and get the same make PCMCIA card as your WAP, they tend to play together better. -- Jeff Gaines Posted with XanaNews 1.17.1.2 |

A wireless router is basically a router with a WAP built in, in the same way that a modem\router is a router with a modem built in. I've got a WAP to add the wireless bit onto my existing wired network. -- SJW Please reply to group or use 'usenet' in email subject |

However, when we get broadband installed in the next couple of weeks here,
its going to be wireless/satellite. Does that mean I could connect (in the garden say) directly without using the router? (and hence the card could be any old card) |
