Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a few pointers for helping me setup Remote
Management on the Netgear DSG834G. I have turned this feature on. I have tried using both the default port 8080 and a custom port 12345 and I cannot access the router from an external PC. I have used the address XXX.X.XXX.X:12345 where X is my IP address. I have tried setting up a port forwarding for this port (to the router IP address) incase the firewall was blocking things. This didn't help. I have looked at the user guide and cannot find any explanation of having to setup port forwarding so I am not even sure if this is needed. Could you please tell me what it is I am doing wrong? P.S. I am not using any over firewall software (or windows xp's built in one) Philip Rayne |

Did you set up the correct range of IP addresses that are allowed to connect to remote management? Did you set a secure password? > > > > I have tried setting up a port forwarding for this port (to the router IP > > address) incase the firewall was blocking things. You definitely shouldn't need port forwarding to enable access to remote management, although you might want to try forwarding to 192.168.0.1:80 (assuming that's the IP address and port number of the router's web interface) to see if you can access the local management interface remotely - I don't know if that will work but I don't see why it wouldn't. |

Hi, yes I mean the DG834G.
I have tried forwarding port 80 to the router and that hasn't worked. At the moment I have not setup any range of IP addresses allowed. I have left them all open. I am at a complete loss as to what the problem is.
