I keep reading about full duplex Ethernet that has transfer rates of 200MBps
what is this and how do you set this up? I want to record / play TV from one server PC down Ethernet to a TV connected to my TV 100MBps is better than wireless but a film can be 4GB and if transfer rate is less than the speed the film is watched it will keep stopping to catch up Andy |

The total bandwidth for traffic in both directions is therefore 100MBPS Full duplex allows sending and receiving simultaneously so you have a total bandwidth of 200MBPS. You still won't get more than 100 in either direction though. > I want to record / play TV from one server PC down Ethernet to a TV > connected to my TV > 100MBps is better than wireless but a film can be 4GB and if transfer > rate is less than the speed the film is watched it will keep stopping > to catch up 100 full duplex is plenty fast enough for that. If you wanted any faster then you would have to step up to Gigabit ethernet. -- Alex "We are now up against live, hostile targets" "So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the bitch! The DVD's I have backed up onto my shared drive can be played by the other PC's in my house that are using wireless connections with no lag problems ever happening. |
