Default Cisco kid again

I seem to need a cable that goes from my Serial port to the Cisco 803 ISDN
Router.

What would the name be for this cable then?

Its just a standard Cisco serial cable.
Email me your address and I'll chuck one in the post for you.

are you sure you can't do it via ethernet ?

console cable ? RS-232 ?

at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/...08008872c.html
it suggests the console port is RJ45, Cisco part number CAB-760-CON
should be bundled with product.

http://www.itparade.com/product_libr...ters/800.shtml
suggests its called a "smart serial" cable, so you need something that
fits your PC - a 9 pin D plug female at a guess - with an RJ45 on the
other end.

http://www.backoffice.be/shop/access...ga=207&pkgb=3E may be
the thing, it has RJ45 to DB-9 adapters

Enjoy

You could if you knew the IP address of the router.
Without that you need to telnet in via the console port.

The Cisco set up utility says to put the blue cable into the serial port of
the PC and the other into the console connector on the Router

No cables with the thing though (bought on E Bay)

I've got a shiny new cable here for you.
I'll drop it in an envelope tomorrow as long as I remember

Dear Dr Zoidberg

Many thanks for the shiny new cable. Still no luck in getting set up though.
It seems to need a name and a password.
