Default Can't Connect To FTP

This is a copy of a message I sent to Netgear support. Has anybody any help/ideas on how to list FTP sites when blocked by a router.

I have installed the Netgear WGR614 wireless router and all is working fine, but I can't connect to my website FTP. It connects OK but will not list the directories. It is being blocked by the router. Your support tells me to go the Manager Interface but I was never asked to install this. Could this be because I use XP Pro. All I want to know is how to unblock the router.

Have you tried setting your FTP client to use passive mode?
