Hi
I'ved just purchased a new laptop and the modem drivers my MultiTech ISDN Pcmcia Type II card are throwing up a Blue Screen in XP Home which is resulting in a reboot everytime with no drivers installing. To tide myself over could I purchase a RJ45 to RJ11 cable (to run from my ISDN socket to the 56k modem) to allow use of the built in 56K v92 modem in the laptop? These cables are for ASDL modems but would they work from a ISDN socket to an ordinary 56k v90 modem? Any advice greatly appreciated George George |

An ISDN connection is totally different electrically from a POTS (ordinary analogue phone) connection. Whether or not your POTS connection has ADSL too makes no difference, not that this applies in your case as you have an ISDN connection. If you have Home Highway then you could connect an "ordinary 56k v90 modem" to one of the phone connections which will have the usual BT type phone connectors. -- Chris Green ((E-Mail Removed)) |
